About the Sunflower Festival

The Sunflower Festival held on the 4th Saturday of August in Colby, KS has a little something for everyone! Local Colby clubs, organizations, students, and groups along with the Colby/Thomas County Chamber and the City of Colby help put on this day full of fun in downtown Colby, KS. An all-day event that starts with a free-will donation breakfast and ends with a free street dance! And in-between those things? So many things for people to participate in, look at, and enjoy! Come on down with the family, register for an event early, and relish all that the Sunflower Festival has to offer!

Sunflower Festival Colby, Kansas held the 4th weekend of August is a day full of family fun

A Day FULL of FUN for everyone!

Cornhole Tournaments | Adults 1 pm & Kids 10 am

Adult and kids cornhole competitions at the Sunflower Festival. Double elimination bracket. Cash prizes for adult winners. Prizes for kids winners. $40 per team of 2 for Adult competition and Kids competition is free. Kids competition is up to 12 years old. Registration for both events will be held when the event starts.

FREE Street Dance w/ MC Entertainment | 7:30 to 10:30 pm

Come out and enjoy a night out on Franklin Avenue dancing on the bricks to MC Entertainment. Your favorite songs to dance to with your whole family! FREE EVENT

Food Trucks & Beer Garden 11 am to 10 pm

Food trucks are available throughout Fike Park the day of the Sunflower Festival. A variety of foods to choose from! Plan on eating at the Sunflower Festival all day! New this year... a beer garden open all day!

FREE Kids Events | 9 am to 2 pm

Kids Events start mid morning and run thru early afternoon. Story time, crafts, bouncy house, yard games, laser tag, face painting, and more for all ages of kids at Fike Park during the Sunflower Festival! A big Thank You to the Pioneer Memorial Library and Farmers and Merchants Bank for making this possible for the kids! No registration required! Just show up for the fun!

Ambassador's Car Show | Downtown Colby | 8 am to 3 pm

Bring in your car, truck, or bike for a show and shine during the Sunflower Festival. Registration at the event Friday night or Saturday morning is $20 for the first vehicle and $15 for each additional vehicle. Prizes will be awarded. Hosted by the Colby Chamber Ambassadors. Check-in, Saturday, the day of the festival will start at 7:30 am. Registration will be at the northeast corner of Franklin and 5th Street. Please arrive coming in from the east down 5th Street.

Come early on Friday night and register at Sonic in Colby from 6 to 7 pm and then join the Thomas County Hot Rodders for a cruise main night!

Awards at 3 pm

Pickleball FREE | 10 am

Register at the Fike Park tennis court starting at 10 am to play Pickleball for FREE! Equipment will be there to use. All ages welcome to play!

Horseshoes | 10 am

Grab a teammate and register to play horseshoes during the Sunflower Festival for just $20 per team of 2. Sponsored by the Daughters of Isabella. Register prior to playing starting at 10 am at the Fike Park horseshoe pits on the southeast side of the park.

Co-ed Sand Volleyball Tournament | 7 am

Colby Rec Department will be hosting a Co-ed Sand Volleyball Tournament at the Sunflower Festival. Teams of 6 (3 men and 3 women) is $90 per team. REGISTER PRIOR TO THE EVENT. Get your team together!

Booths on the Bricks | 9 am to 2 pm

Arts, Crafts, Vendors for Booths on the Bricks. Hosted by The Colby Lions Club.

Interested in setting up a booth?? $50 per 12' x 12' space. Contact Colby Lions Club member Justin at 785.462.5302 for more information. Click on link at the bottom for registration form. Must be registered prior to the event.

FREE Hot Dog Eating Contest| 3:30 pm

Hot Dog Eating Contest! Free to participate for up to 20 people in the age categories 12 to 17 and 18+. Starts at 3:30 pm in the Fike Park bandshell area. 5 minutes to eat as many hotdogs with buns as you can. Winner gets bragging rights, trophies, and $50 in chamber bucks!

Color Run | 7 am

Walk, run, dance, skip your way thruthe Colby Cross Fit Color Run! $25 per person includes a white Sunflower Festival tshirt to wear during the run! Sponsored by Colby Cross Fit. Register and beginning is at the statue of liberty at Fike Park on the corner of Franklin and 8th St. 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile events!

Brick-Fast | 8 am to 10 am

The Colby Fire Department is hosting a free will donation breakfast at Fike Park on the corner of Franklin and Candy Cane Lane. All money goes to the proposed Kreibhal Park for all kids to play!
